Ireland Crow Observation LogsDunfanaghy, County Donegal, Ireland: June 22/23, 1999 (reported 3/2/01) I witnessed a late June roost (June 22/23 1999) on N56 less than a kilometre west of Dunfanaghy in County Donegal, Ireland. I wasn't counting crows, and I'm not sure in the 11:00 p.m. twilight whether they were hooded crows or carrion crows or possibly both. All I know is that there were hundreds at least, maybe thousands of crows. Every tree along the road was full of crows. They started arriving at maybe 9:00 p.m. (an hour before sunset) and kept pouring in until 10:30 or 11:00, making a huge racket. I was wishing for a tape recorder. So roosting is not just an American crow phenomenon, and not just limited to fall or winter. -Christopher Donnelly, San Francisco (This section will be added to on a continuing basis.
